Changes at HQ

Now is the short several month time interval in Nebraska where the temperature is not too something and so there have been some projects in the works at the house. Some are still in the secret, hush-hush planning stages and cannot be revealed here.

First, there's a giant hole in the backyard. What do you do with a giant hole in the backyard? Fill it with the lifeless bodies of your vanquished enemies? Whoa, easy there Rumsfeld, we're just going to turn it into a patio.

Pay no attention to the fact that we don't have anywhere to put the dirt.

Second, Shaleah's (Peaches and) Herb garden, and her regular garden are really taking off, although I'm told mostly the zucchini is crushing all other plants in a mad grab for egomanical garden domination.

Above is a view from the veranda where the potted plants huddle for warmth.

Third, Shaleah is busy out-etsying Etsy. The sewing machine is not the sole provence of you, Spongetta! She made us some nice cushions for our bistro chairs. Behold!

A closer inspection:

It's as if the American Flag and a group of sexy ladies had twins that were comfortable to sit on.

It's true. The zucchini wants to take over the world. Because my garden is quite tiny, and zucchini is like 25 cents at the grocery store, I can say in retrospect that the zucchini planting was a huge mistake. I had heard about the prowess of zucchini and that is why I was careful to only plant two little seeds. Little did I know those two seeds would somehow infiltrate the entire garden - even into the next bed. I might try to kill it if I thought it was possible. A part of me though feels like if it is so strong (even despite me never watering it) it deserves to live.

Those chair covers are way cute.

I like the work that is being done and expect that the patio will be awesome. It may necessitate a return to BB in the near future for me.

Dear Keith and Shaleah, This is great! I cannot wait to see the finished patio with the furniture, etc.. We had a great trip, now after three days working for the Dept. of Ed. I will be off again. Love and prayers, MOM

You can't have enough zucchini!!! Put it in a brown paper bag, place it on a neighbor's porch, ring the bell, and run like h-ll!!! You can do so much with it from baking to grilling , both sweet and salty. It should be the NE state veggie!!! I like the "lifeless bodies" idea. Can I tell Rummy the next time we talk? I have seen those covers in person and they are really great--didn't know at the time they were homemade--thought it was another of those Anthropomorphic on line prurchase things--whatever. Keep up the good work, both of you!!! Good radio show by Dr J 2 wks ago; always interesting and entertaining on the T-bird!!!
